Since 1982 the Bentham News has been Bentham’s monthly community publication.
Over 2000 copies are delivered free by volunteers to every household in both High and Low Bentham and to central points in local towns and villages. It is also available by subscription across the world, and is recorded onto CD for people who have difficulty with the written word.
The Bentham News is run by an editorial committee of volunteers, supported by a part-time paid co-ordinator, and is funded by local advertising and donations. It comes out at the beginning of the month and there are many articles in each edition that are written by local people covering topics such as walking, gardening, charity events, sports, council activities and local topical events. There is an open-access letters page, a people’s page for small ads and thanks, and the central pages contain a brief diary of events in the town for the coming month.
As well as the editorial committee, many members of the community enable the paper to continue, with their voluntary work delivering, sorting, and writing for the paper.
The paper has a website where all previous editions are available to view.

The Craven Herald is published weekly, each Thursday.
The Lancaster Guardian is published weekly, each Thursday.
The Westmorland Gazette is published weekly, each Thursdays.
The Yorkshire Post, which is a daily broadsheet, provides news coverage for the whole of Yorkshire.
